Costa Rica for Life is a Toronto-based real estate marketing firm focused exclusively on selling prime real estate properties in South West Costa Rica. Its founding partners, Doug McLellan and Craig Backman, have an exclusive agreement with a major Costa Rican developer to market its Endless View properties.

OUR STORY
Doug and Craig have a long history of developing successful marketing and communication campaigns together. When they met (a decade ago), Craig was a senior executive at a major Canadian financial institution overseeing teams charged with various brand, marketing and strategic on-line developments. Doug's company, McLellan Group, was a long-time preferred supplier. Craig's innate abilities to gather all the information at hand and chart a strategic path, coupled with Doug's storytelling skills, resulted in groundbreaking initiatives in web, video and interactive—many still in use today.
Interestingly, both Craig and Doug began their careers through (of all things) Chemistry...both studying at the University of Waterloo (although at different times). Craig received a Chemical Engineering degree and Doug studied Honours Chemistry. While Craig went on to earn an MBA in marketing and entrepreneurial studies, Doug had a unique opportunity to pursue a love of film and photography and work in news and documentary programming. Before long, he had earned his CSC (Canadian Society of Cinematographers) certification and was directing and shooting documentary projects worldwide. When his son was born in 1987, he opted for a closer-to-home lifestyle and started McLellan Group.
Today's ties to Costa Rica can be traced directly to Doug's relationship with Patrick Langille, the developer's General Sales Manager. Patrick and Doug had known each other for years in Toronto, and in the 1990's Patrick managed a tourism business in Saint Marten that Doug had started with a group of investors. When Patrick told Doug and Craig about the remarkable real estate opportunity in Costa Rica and invited them to come down to check out its latest release of property, they were intrigued enough to fly down to see for themselves.
As Patrick said "the place sells itself" and it did. Both Doug and Craig now have properties!
